March 5, 2009 by Robin Kaminski

LYNN – A drunken drive around the city resulted in the arrest of a Saugus man Wednesday.Gregory Paul Domey, 24, of 588 Lincoln Ave., Apt. #1, Saugus, was arrested and arraigned Wednesday on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, marked lanes violation and a motor vehicle lights violation around 2 a.m.Judge Ellen Flatley released Domey on personal recognizance and he is scheduled to appear back at Lynn District Court on April 28 for a pretrial hearing.According to a police report, Domey was driving his black Cadillac without taillights erratically on Federal Street and was pulled over. When asked for his registration, Domey’s eyes were reportedly glassy, he slurred his words and had trouble locating his paperwork. While talking to Domey, police observed an open box of Bud Light beer in the back seat and two empty beer bottles and one beer can on the rear seat floor. After he told police that he had not had a drink, he was asked to perform a sobriety test and agreed.Domey proceeded to slowly shuffle his feet while walking and swayed when he was spoken to.After several more tests, police placed Domey in custody. During the drive to the police station, officers said they could smell a strong odor of alcohol on Domey as he continued to slur his speech.Domey refused to take a breath test, sign an OUI rights form or his fingerprint card. Because he refused to submit a breath test, Domey’s license to operate was suspended and his drivers license was cut up and thrown away by police. After he was placed in a holding cell, police saw Domey urinating while standing at the cell door and was advised to use the toilet in the cell next time.
