LYNN – A Lynn barber has been ordered held without bail for allegedly severely beating his girlfriend Tuesday before stealing her car and other personal items.Jeffery Oviedo, 31, of 28 Nottingham Court, was arrested about 3 p.m. and charged with domestic assault and battery, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon (razor), motor vehicle theft, larceny over $250, driving with a revoked license and giving a false name to police.Police say Oviedo arrived home when an argument between he and his girlfriend escalated. He allegedly placed her in a choke hold while holding a razor blade against her neck. The victim says the razor used to assault her is the same type used at a barber shop. A police booking sheet says Oviedo is employed by Zone barber shop on Broad Street. The woman says she moved too quick during the struggle and the razor cut her ear. When police arrived the ear was “bleeding profusely,” according to a police report. The victim tried to get away but Oviedo allegedly grabbed her and punched her in the right eye, causing swelling “the approximate size of a golf ball,” a police report said.Oviedo then allegedly grabbed the 28-year-old woman by the hair and threw her into a wall before repeatedly punching her in the back of the head. She managed to get away and lock herself in a bathroom. At that point, Oviedo allegedly stole her iPod and car keys, then went outside and drove away in her car.A short time later two officers discovered the vehicle driving on Washington Street and pulled it over in front of the police station. Oviedo was arrested without incident but allegedly gave police a fake first name. The suspect was arraigned Wednesday in Lynn District Court where Judge Ellen Flatley ordered him held without bail until an April 8 hearing.
