SAUGUS – Two off-duty Saugus police officers got into a heated exchange at Kowloon restaurant on Saturday night, prompting one of them being asked to leave, but a physical altercation never occurred, Police Chief Domenic DiMella said this week.”There was an argument. One of them was asked to leave and he left,” DiMella said. “It was an argument that got a little loud and that was it.”DiMella says Lt. Michael Annese and Sgt. Mike Stewart were working paid details inside the club. Annese was in the lounge area and Stewart was upstairs. Two unidentified off-duty officers were socializing in the lounge area when an argument between the two erupted. DiMella confirms foul language was used and one of the officers was asked to leave, but denied rumors that a fight broke out. He said there would be no internal investigation and the officers are not in any official trouble.
