REVERE – The trial of the four people accused of taking part in the 2007 murder of Revere police officer Daniel Talbot has been delayed until January 2010, the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office said Monday night.According to Jake Wark, spokesman for District Attorney Dan Conley, Suffolk Superior Court Judge Patrick Brady granted the new trial date on Monday after a motion was filed by attorney Peter Krupp, who represents accused shooter Robert Iacoviello.”Judge Patrick Brady today set the trial date to Jan. 4, 2010 acting on a motion by Robert Iacoveillo’s defense counsel,” Wark said without commenting further.The prosecutors and defense lawyers are expected back in court for a status hearing on May 13.Until Monday, the trial was set to begin in April.Krupp could not be reached for comment Monday night.Iacoviello, 21, is accused of opening fire on Talbot, his fiance Connie Bethel, patrolmen William Soto and Stacy Bruzzese and former Sgt. Evan Franklin as they illegally drank alcohol on the baseball field of Revere High School Sept. 29, 2007 while off-duty. Franklin has since been fired for conduct unbecoming of an officer and obstructing a murder investigation stemming from the incident.Derek Lodie, James Heang and Gia Nagy, all 18-year-old Revere residents, have been charged as accessories to murder. Lodie and Heang remain in jail awaiting trial but Nagy is free on bail.As recently as two weeks ago, Krupp had taken issue in court with the prosecution relying heavily on an eyewitness who allegedly changed his story multiple times, according to a published report.
