LYNN – A middle-aged man was transported to a local hospital Wednesday night after someone in a pickup truck slammed into the side of his SUV at the corner of Chatham and Parrott streets, causing it to roll over and land on a sidewalk, then fled the scene.The victim’s identity was not released last night. Police continued to search for the fleeing driver as of press time.Eyewitnesses said the victim had been stopped at the stop sign on Parrott and had inched onto Chatham when the speeding truck driver crashed into the side of the Mitsubishi SUV, causing the rollover shortly after 6 p.m.The victim was able to free himself from the vehicle but suffered visible injuries.”He was bleeding from his back and arms. He also had a laceration from the seatbelt,” Brian Fernandez, 14, said.The teenager said he had walked on the sidewalk where the SUV landed only a moment before the crash.”I was right there minutes before this happened, right where the car is,” he said. “Even my friend’s mom woke up because of how loud it was.”
