WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Swampscott’s Ryan Kane slugged a two-run homer in the second game of a doubleheader to help the Salem State College baseball team sweep Western Connecticut State, Friday.The Vikings, who improved to 5-4, won the first game, 14-8, and took the nightcap, 7-4.Senior right-hander Ken Luongo was the game one hero, allowing just three earned runs over six and two thirds innings. Luongo also produced a pair of singles and drove in one run. Junior Steve Mucci continued his hot streak at the plate, collecting three more singles. The Vikings put game one on ice when they exploded for a 12-run sixth inning.SSC head coach Ken Perrone sent another righty starter to the bump for game two. Senior Al Miner recorded the win on the hill for the Vikings. Miner picthed a seven inning, complete-game allowing just one earned run. Miner also added a two-run singleSSC’s final game of the Floriad trip will be today, when the Vikings play Denison University of Ohio at 1:30 pm at Winter Haven.
