SAUGUS-The Charter Commission got the picture after a couple of residents complained the print of the draft charter proposal was too small for them to read.Charter Commission Chairman Peter Manoogian said large print copies are now available in the Public Library, the Town Clerk’s Office in Town Hall and in the Saugus Senior Center. In addition, he said, members of the Charter Commission will be available to visit any resident who is blind or disabled and who does not otherwise have access to the text version of the proposal. The issue came up during last week’s public forum on the draft proposal when Selectman Peter Rossetti said he knew some people were having difficulty with the small print of the proposal.Manoogian said he was happy to make larger print copies because he is prepared to pretty much do whatever it takes to get the word out on the proposal. Not only is Mannogian happy to make larger print, he’ll drive it over and read it to you if need be.”The commission will deliver a copy of the proposal to anyone that is disabled or homebound,” he said. “The commission would also be willing to read the proposal to any Saugus resident who is vision impaired. We want all Saugus residents to have access to the proposal and will provide necessary and appropriate accommodations to accomplish this.”Manoogian said if he thought there was enough need, he’d record someone reading it aloud and make audio copies available.”We’ll do whatever it takes,” he said.Arrangements can be made to contact the charter commission through the Saugus Town Clerk’s Office at 781-231-4011.
