Election races set in Marblehead

MARBLEHEAD – The town election deadline passed at 5 p.m. Monday and there will be four contested races on May 11.There will be seven candidates seeking the five available one-year seats on the Recreation and Park Commission: incumbents Derek Norcross, Charles “Chip” Osborne, Linda Rice Collins and Sam Ganglani face challenges from Clifton Heights Lane resident Charles Nyren, Thompson Road resident Skip Likins and former Commissioner Rose Ann Wheeler McCarthy.Three candidates are seeking a vacant three-year seat on the Board of Health: Naugus Avenue resident Matthew Herring, Maverick Street resident Matthew Adam Karlyn and Sevinor Road resident Michelle Gottlieb.Four candidates are seeking two three-year seats on the Trustees of the Abbot Public Library. Incumbents Susan Indresano and Peggy Geist Blass face challenges from Barbara Collins Rosenberg and Phyllis Smith.Maura Phelan Murnane is running unopposed for a one-year seat on that board.There are two candidates for a seat on the Housing Authority: Kris Larson and Pamela Foye.Maverick Street resident EuRim Chun is seeking a three-year seat on the School Committee.All five incumbent selectmen are seeking re-election unopposed, including Jackie Belf-Becker, Judy Jacobi, Harry Christensen, William Woodfin and James Nye.Also seeking office are Town Moderator Gary Speiss, Planning Board members James Bishop and Karl Johnson, Board of Assessors member Douglas Percy, Cemetery Commissioner Dexter Gillis, Municipal Light Commissioners Phillip Sweeney and Wilbur Bassett and Water and Sewer Commissioner Emerson Brown.
