LYNN- Police are still looking for a man they say took an unknown amount of money from the Sovereign Bank at 39 Exchange St. Monday morning.
Police say a black male wearing a black leather jacket and white baseball cap passed a note demanding cash to a counter teller just after the bank opened at 9 a.m. The teller handed over an undisclosed amount of money in a stack also containing an exploding dye pack.
The man fled the branch and entered a black minivan, at which point witnesses say they may have seen the dye pack explode in the man’s hands.
Witnesses also told police the minivan was seen speeding toward the Lynnway right after the incident.
As of Monday afternoon, police have not made an arrest.
Police say the suspect was unarmed and no one was injured in the incident. The bank remained closed as police investigated the incident.
