April 23, 2009 by [email protected]

LYNN – Commuters heading in both directions on route 1A can expect delays this coming Monday as crews will begin repaving the surface of the General Edwards Bridge connecting Lynn and Revere over the Saugus River. The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) said crews would be working on the northbound lane, coming into Lynn, from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday and on the southbound lane going into Revere, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday. The bridge will remain open to motor vehicles while work is ongoing, but the bridge will be reduced to one lane in each direction. The repaving project is expected to be completed Monday unless poor weather conditions present a problem to workers.
