LYNN – Fox 25 TV meteorologist A.J. Burnett gave a presentation on predicting the weather at the Harrington Elementary School, becoming the latest local TV personality to present at the school.Burnett made a presentation to students in the school’s gym Thursday, speaking to students about how meteorologists are able to predict the weather, warm and cold fronts, jet streams, pressure, layers of the atmosphere, the water cycle and the scientific method.Harrington teacher Debi Milkes contacted Burnett, who makes occasional appearances at schools across the state, after students learned about weather in science class.Teachers covered such topics as temperature, moisture and wind speed and direction in the unit.The students also learned about the water cycle and how water on Earth cycles into different locations, including underground and in the atmosphere.”(Burnett’s visit) is a wonderful experience for the students to see first hand how a meteorologist predicts the weather,” said Milkes. “A.J. has a great presentation and the students will be involved in the experiments.”Burnett’s presentation will air on Fox 25 today during the 5 p.m. newscast.Burnett joins Channel 5 sportscaster Mike Lynch and former NESN sportscaster Hazel Mae in visiting the Harrington over the last two years.
