LYNN – Police are seeking the driver of a gold or brown Honda or Toyota sedan they believe struck a Grove street resident who was crossing Boston Street toward Mall Street at 6:37 Friday morning.Michael Zarba, 23, 84 Grove St., was listed in serious condition at Massachusetts General Hospital Friday evening.Lisa Mahmoud said her daughter, Aleah, 15, and three friends were waiting at the intersection of Grove and Boston to take their bus to Essex Agricultural and witnessed the hit-and-run accident.”The car was flying,” Lisa Mahmoud said, quoting her daughter.Aleah Mahmoud said the car was headed toward Franklin Street. Police said Zarba was inside the crosswalk when he was stuck and had to be airlifted to Mass General.The accident comes as no surprise to Patricia Ricci, a hairdresser at Sophia’s Beauty Salon who said speeding and accidents on the curving stretch of Boston Street near Mall and Grove is a constant concern for residents and merchants.”We knew something bad was going to happen. They really need to consider putting (traffic) lights up,” Ricci said.Police said the car probably sustained extensive front end damage.
