SALEM – A jury has found one of two men charged with the gang-related shooting of a Lynn man outside a Bennett Street restaurant in 2007 guilty of second degree murder.
Bonrad Sok, 19, of 103 Warren St., went on trial last week on a charge of premeditated first-degree murder in connection with the gang-related shooting of 18-year-old Cristian Vargas-Martinez outside the Golden Lake Restaurant at 38 Bennett St. on Nov. 1, 2007. Vargas-Martinez, a member of the Crips, received a fatal gunshot wound to his chest from a .22 caliber handgun.
The 12-peson jury comprised of five women and seven men issued the verdict just before 5 p.m.
Sok is facing a sentence of 15 years to life in prison. Sentencing is scheduled to take place Wenesday morning before Judge David A. Lowy in Salem Superior Court.
