SWAMPSCOTT – The Swampscott Police Association is holding its second annual father and daughter dance on June 20 in the high school atrium.Detective Rose Cheever, who helped coordinate the first father/daughter dance last year, said the event was modeled on similar dances in Lynnfield and Wakefield.”We had a great response last year,” she said. “Everyone had fun and the SPA had fun doing it. We had people ask if we’d do it again this year. We’re really looking forward to it. “It’s Father’s Day weekend and it will be a nice event for fathers and daughters to attend together.”Detective Ted Delano, who is President of the Swampscott Police Association (SPA), said the dance is another way to reach out to the community.”The SPA hosts family orientated events when we can,” he said. “The Holiday Parade is usually the biggest event where officers get a chance to interact with the community. We hope this dance will continue to prove to be a popular event and we hope everyone has as great a time as they did last year.”Delano said girls between 5 and 13 years old are welcome to attend with an adult male relative.Delano said the SPA is not making any money on the event and ticket sales would cover any associated costs. The dance will be held on June 20 from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at Swampscott High School. Tickets are $50 per couple and an additional $10 for each additional child and the event includes a deejay, a commemorative professional photograph, a silk corsage for the girls and light refreshments.Only 150 tickets will be sold so residents are encouraged to purchase their tickets now.”We sold out last year,” Delano said. “We expect to sell out again this year so people should purchase tickets early.”Tickets will be available at Stanley School on May 26 from 2-3 p.m; on May 27 from 2-3 p.m. and at Clarke School on May 28 between 2-3 p.m. Tickets are also available by emailing [email protected] or [email protected].
