Several communities in the Greater Lynn area will observe Memorial Day over the weekend.
The schedule is:
LYNN
The Lynn Memorial Day Parade will be held Monday at 1:30 p.m. The Parade will begin on Market Street and proceed through City Hall Square, then to North Common Street, Park Street, Boston Street ending in front of Pine Grove Cemetery. World War II veteran and Pearl Harbor Survivor Emery Arsenault is the chief marshal of this year’s Parade. MARBLEHEAD
Flagging of veterans’ graves at Waterside Cemetery will take place Saturday at 9 a.m.
Residents are invited to join members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Submarine Veterans, who will be flagging the graves of the town’s veterans. Volunteers will meet at the Bell Tower. Anyone needing a flag for a veteran’s grave that has been overlooked may contact the veterans’ office at 781-631-0990.
Sunday at 1 p.m. there will be a veterans’ service at the Star of the Sea Cemetery. The public may attend this service.
Monday the traditional parade will take place. After a service at the Clark Landing at 8 a.m., marchers will gather at the Old Town House. The parade will begin at 9 and proceed to Memorial Park. There will be ceremonies at the park and at Waterside Cemetery. Rodgers has scheduled two speakers this year. Army Capt. Richard Frear will speak at Memorial Park and Navy veteran Dan Shea will speak at the cemetery. Following the cemetery observance, food will be served at the VFW hall.
NAHANT
The Memorial Day Parade will step off at 9:30 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Nahant Road and Cliff Street. Retired U.S. Air Force Col. James F. Cashman will be serving as the chief marshal for the parade, which will proceed through town to Greenlawn Cemetery where the Nahant Memorial Day Committee has a community tribute planned. After the ceremony, a trumpeter will sound an assembly and the parade will proceed to Tudor Wharf to pay tribute to those who served in the U.S. Navy. The parade will proceed from Town Wharf to the Nahant Town Hall where there will be a chowder luncheon for the participants. The parade will include a wagon pulled by the Boy Scouts that displays the famous German machine gun captured during WWI by Sgt. Alvin York, just as was done in 1919.
PEABODY
The Memorial Day Parade will take place Monday. The Veterans Council will begin with a service at 9:30 a.m., at Cedar Grove Cemetery. Immediately following the service, all four divisions of the parade will begin to line up at Hourihan Street, Hingston Street, Wheeler Street and Allens Lane.
The parade will commence at 11 a.m., beginning at the intersection of Hingston/Washington/Allens Lane. The parade route will be Washington Street, left on Main Street, to City Hall.
Services will be conducted on the front lawn of City Hall around 11:45 a.m.

REVERE
Memorial Day ceremonies will be held Monday at 11 a.m. on the lawn of the American Legion building, 249 Broadway and inside the building in the event of rain.
SAUGUS
The annual Memorial Day Parade will form on Jackson Street Saturday at 8:30 a.m. and step off at 9 a.m. The parade will head up Lincoln Ave. to Central St. to Winter St. up Winter to Riverside Cemetery where services will be held at the Veterans Lot. The parade will then reform and march down Winter St. to Central St. and onto Saugus Center where a service will be held at the monument.
SWAMPSCOTT
The town Memorial Day service will be held Monday at noon in the Veterans Lot in the cemetery. Participants and attendees are asked to use the entrance closest to Ryan Place. The service will be followed by a luncheon at the VFW, 8 Pine St.
