LYNN – North Shore Community College graduate and Lynn Vocational and Technical Institute Director James Ridley has been appointed to the college’s board of directors, Gov. Deval Patrick announced last month.A 1973 graduate of the school, Ridley has been a teacher and coach in his hometown of Lynn for more than two decades, taking over as director of the city’s only vocational high school in February 2008.Ridley’s appointment takes effect immediately and runs through March 1, 2012.Ridley received the college’s Distinguished Alumnus Award at last month’s commencement ceremony, recognizing his work in the community and success as both a teacher and coach in his native city. After graduating from NSCC, Ridley went on to earn a bachelor’s degree from Salem State College and a Master’s degree from Cambridge College. He returned home to Lynn as an educator and coach, leading the LVTI football team for more than two decades and working as vice principal and later principal of Breed Middle School.
