LYNN – The North Shore Navigators begin their season tonight at Fraser Field against the Stanford, Maine, Mariners at 7 p.m.
The Navigators are part of the New England Collegiate Baseball League, which attracts some of the top college talent in the nation.
The Navigators, in their second year, have adopted a community night plan this year in which each community in the area gets to reap some of the proceeds from the gate. Tonight, it’s Lynn Classical night.
The Navigators continue their homestand Friday and Saturday, against the Lowell All-Americans and Newport Gulls respectively. It’ll be Topsfield night Friday; and Melrose night Saturday.
After traveling to Manchester, N.H., Sunday, the Navigators are back home Monday against the Danbury Westerners, and that’ll be Marblehead night.
This year, the Navigators feature at least five players from the immediate area: Jason Banos of Lynnfield (Columbia), Doug Shribman of Marblehead (Bucknell), Kyle Multner (UMass) and Mike Gallo (Milligan) of Peabody; and Jared Freni of Malden (UMass).
