LYNN – Wyoma pitcher Molly Doyle dominated the Sandwich bats, coming away with a no-hitter in a four-inning 17-1 win at Lynn Woods Field on Thursday. Doyle had also pitched a no-hitter during the season; her line yesterday read four innings, six walks, seven strikeouts ? and no hits.”Molly was fantastic tonight,” said Wyoma manager John Traversy, whose squad plays Saturday at Jesse Burkett Little League in Worcester (12:30 p.m.) against Wakefield, the team that defeated the Lynners 5-4 on Wednesday. The winner of the sectional final will advance to the states.”We hit the ball today,” Traversy said. “We had to get back our confidence from last night (in the loss to Wakefield). We were too anxious at the plate and popped the ball up.” This time, he said, “We stayed back and line-drived them.”Did they ever. With the bases still loaded, Frankie Galeazzi delivered a two-run double, scoring Zeramby and Lauria for a 5-0 advantage, with Doyle taking third. The next batter, Sam Holey, reached on a two-base error, with Doyle and Galeazzi scoring on the play to make it 7-0.”They were good,” Sandwich coach Rick Hayes said. “Good team, good sports.”Sandwich pitcher Angela MacLeod got Gabby Kenniston to fly out, but Jillian Strileckis hit an RBI single for an 8-0 lead. Two consecutive pinch-hitters – Donnelly and Megan Clancy – drew walks, with Clancy’s, on a 3-2 count, loading the bases again.Zeramby forced in a run with a walk, and Lauria made it a double-digit lead (11-0) with a two-run double. With runners on second and third, Doyle flied out to end the inning.Wyoma added four runs in the third. Galeazzi led off with a walk, and Angela Sarette singled to put runners on first and second. With Brooke Holey at the plate, a wild pitch put runners at second and third, and Holey walked to load the bases. Strileckis hit a run-scoring groundout, Donnelly reached on a run-scoring error, and Clancy walked, reloading the bases. Zeramby walked, scoring her team’s 14th run of the game, and Lauria reached on an infield hit, with Donnelly scoring as Clancy beat out a throw to third.Sandwich got on the board in the bottom of the frame when Shannon Mosher drew a one-out walk and stole second. With Megan Fitzgerald at the plate and two out, Mosher stole third and scored after an error, beating the throw home.
