LYNN – A mischievous student caused a brief disturbance that forced students and administrators out of the Fecteau-Leary Junior/Senior High School late Thursday morning.According to school and fire officials, a light smoke was detected inside the school, believed to be caused when a student lit a piece of paper on fire at one of the summer school programs Thursday morning. As a precaution, everyone in the building was brought outside while the fire department investigated.”I wouldn’t call it an evacuation,” a fire department spokesperson said Thursday. “It was more like a fire drill. There was just a little bit of a light smoke condition so they had to go in there and conduct an investigation.”Superintendent Catherine Latham said the building was emptied a second time due to a faulty sprinkler head, but at no point were students or employees in danger. The Fecteau-Leary Junior/Senior High School, formerly Classical High School, is home to several special education and alternative programs as well as administrative offices for the food service, discipline, school safety and transportation departments.During the summer, several summer school programs are housed at the school.Summer school principal Richard Sackowich was not available for comment Thursday afternoon.
