LYNN – For the second time in less than a month, police believe an area Dunkin’ Donuts was the victim of an inside robbery.According to court documents, Salem police believe that 24-year-old Cesar Rivera and 20-year-old Michael Torborg, both of Lynn, conspired to rob the Dunkin’ Donuts at 429 Highland Ave. in Salem July 24, shortly after Rivera was fired from that location for stealing.Prosecutors say Torborg took out the trash shortly before 9 p.m. on the night of the 24th, purposely leaving the back door to the establishment open and unattended, allowing Rivera to sneak into the restaurant through the back door.Wearing gloves, a hood and a ski mask, Rivera walked up to the counter, held up his fingers and told an employee that he had a gun.Although he never produced the weapon, Rivera was able to grab cash from the register and a cash box before fleeing the scene.Police say Torborg was cooperative when first questioned about the incident, telling officers that he and Rivera had spoke about the plan earlier that day, but he had refused to cooperate and tried to talk him out of it.Police initially bought the story, but say surveillance video suggests Torborg was acting too suspiciously not to be involved.Video shows Torborg taking out the trash on several occasions throughout his shift, and when Rivera was inside the restaurant, Torborg can be seen peeking inside through the back door, but not coming in until Rivera had left. Both men have been charged with one count of unarmed robbery, but police have yet to capture Torborg, who is still at large and wanted on a warrant.Although Rivera’s defense alleges he was set up, a Salem District Court judge revoked his bail on a pending offense out of Lynn District Court and set a $10,000 bail on the new charges.Lynn police arrested 42-year-old Margaret Young and 43-year-old Theron Grady on June 30 after the boyfriend-girlfriend team allegedly conspired to rob the Dunkin’ Donuts located at 334 Lynnway. In that incident, Grady entered the restaurant through the front door and demanded money from the two cashiers, one of whom was Young. While her co-worker fled to the bathroom, Young mysteriously stuck around and appeared to be helping Grady find the money on surveillance video.Rivera is due back in a Salem courtroom Aug. 19.
