The 70th annual Tedesco Invitational Fourball will kick off today with 64 teams competing in the main flight to knock off two-time defending champions George Wattendorf and Joe Tibbets.The teams will compete over four days with each being guaranteed of playing at least three matches on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. The teams losing in Saturday morning’s play will be eliminated from the competition.The remaining teams will participate in the quarterfinals on Saturday afternoon with the semifinals and finals coming on Sunday. Other previous champions competing will be Brian Benevento-Brian Oppenheim; Jim McCathern-Steve Glowacz; Rich Lombard-Al Lindsey; and Tom Burke-Rom Emmons.Teams not participating in the main flight will have a chance to win the Round-A-Day tournament.All teams participating will play an 18-hole qualifying round to determine three flights of four teams each on Thursday using their Fourball Handicap. The four teams with the lowest net score will be in the First Flight. In the case of a tie for the last spot in the first or second flight, a sudden death playoff will decide the teams in each flight. All the teams in the field will play three consecutive days, Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, of 18-hole matches against each of the other three teams in their flight, accumulating points to determine the winners of each championship.
