LYNN – A traffic signal crew spent Tuesday afternoon remounting a signal pole onto its base after a street sweeper struck the pole at the corner of Lewis and Chestnut streets shortly after noon and dislodged it.Dan Cady, estimator for Dan Amorello Services of Worcester, said a company worker “tapped” the pole while operating the sweeper.?Luckily, no one got hurt,” Cady said.The collision occurred while Amorello was removing pavement in front of Crown Drug in preparation for a paving crew to resurface a road section previously dug up by a utility crew.?They were grating the street and the sweeper was cleaning up and it went too far and right into the base of the signal. The pole fell onto the sweeper,” said Crown owner Ted Ball.Two police detail officers hired to direct traffic in the busy intersection while the road work was underway continued rerouting vehicles while a Bellafatto Electric crew reinstalled the pole.
