LYNN – The students of the Ford School and neighbors of the Highlands have been tending to the International Garden at the Ford all summer, and now that their hard work has paid off with a plentiful harvest, the Highlands Coalition has planned a series of farmer’s markets to share the food with the community. The first farmer’s market will take place Monday, Sept. 14 from 3-6 p.m. and continue every Monday this fall until final harvest. The market will take place on the grounds of the Ford School and will be run by local youth.Built on a giant slab of hot top, the International Garden at the Ford School is in its second year of existence and continues to grow as Ford students and neighbors have volunteered their time to make sure the effort produces viable crops. The farmer’s markets will be sponsored by the North Shore Food Project and the North Shore Work Investment Board, which provides local teens summer work at the garden. For more information, call David Gass at 781-595-8701.
