Trae Weathers’ 1-yard touchdown run in double overtime made the difference for Revere in a 20-14 season-opening win over the Northeast Voke at Harry Della Russo Stadium on Friday.Asked whether this was the most exciting victory in his coaching career, the Patriots’ Lou Cicatelli said that a triple-OT win over Saugus was “definitely the one.” But last night’s game, he said, was “a big win. We throw the ball, and in the rain, we couldn’t throw. Hats off to Northeast. They’re very big and physical. They gave us everything we could handle up front.”In the end, Weathers and the Patriots prevailed. Weathers ran for 185 yards and two scores, plus a two-point conversion. Northeast tied it on a 40-yard trap play, but Revere preserved the tie by stuffing a conversion attempt, and regulation ended in a 14-14 tie.The first overtime p eriod saw fine play on defense – Northeast stopping Revere on the 1-yard line on fourth down, Revere returning the favor on fourth-and-3. Jesse Kielpinski added six tackles and was “all over the place,” Cicatelli said. The coach also praised punter Soheal Arachiche, who contributed punts of between 35 and 40 yards on a rainy night.”He saved us tonight,” Cicatelli said.Danvers 20, Man.-Essex 0At Danvers, Eric Burgos had a big night for the Falcons, scoring all three touchdowns.
