MARBLEHEAD – The Marblehead Fire Department has two new captains, three new lieutenants and four new firefighters.Capt. Daniel Rice has spent the most time in the department. He became a call firefighter in 1983, joined the department full-time in 1986 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2005. He is a certified fire instructor.Capt. Scott Murray has been a full-time firefighter since 1999 and was promoted to lieutenant in 2007. Both of the new captains are certified fire officers.All three lieutenants were promoted June 21. Lt. Thomas Rice joined the Marblehead department in 2000. Lt. Adam Hatfield began as a call firefighter in Nahant in 1992 and transferred to Marblehead in 2007.Lt. Gregg McLaughlin is a graduate of the New Hampshire Fire Academy and was appointed a full-time firefighter in Marblehead in 2006. He is a certified fire instructor, fire investigator, child safety seat installation technician and the department grant writer.The new firefighters are Patrick Attridge, Steven Bivens, Robert McKay and Matthew Patterson.Patterson is an EMT/paramedic and rescue diver and he is certified in confined space work and rope rescue. Bivens is a child safety seat installation technician.
