Golf: St. Mary’s defeats Fenwick

The St. Mary’s-Bishop Fenwick rivalry continues, as St. Mary’s prevailed over Fenwick 141-126 at Gannon Golf Course on Tuesday.The Spartans’ star was Kevin McCarthy. He scored a team-high 32 points to lead St. Mary’s to victory. Garret O’Neil also helped out, finishing second in scoring with 21 points.Fenwick got a strong effort by Patrick Riley with a team-high 28 points in the loss. With the win, St. Mary’s now is 1-1 overall.Lynnfield 169, No. Andover 138At Sagamore Golf Course, Lynnfield’s Paul O’Brien led the way, scoring 35 points. Joe Anderson also chipped in big in the win with 32 points.Saugus 50 1/2, Lynn English 21 1/2At Cedar Glen, Nick Scenna led the way for the Sachems, shooting a 36 while winning 6 1/2-2 1/2 in his match. For Lynn English, Brendan Carritte won his match against Rob Snow 5.5-3.5. Nick Newhall of English tied his match against Danny Groark 4.5-4.5. The Sachems are 2-2 overall, with a 2-0 conference record.Swampscott 57.5, Classical 14.5At Gannon, Swampscott’s Justin Massey led the way with a 37. The Big Blue’s other top two players, Alex Patkin and Dan Owens, both shot a 38. The Big Blue has four new varsity players, and all had winning debuts.Classical freshmen Lee Nelson and Mac St. Ives had good performances as well.Swampscott is now 1-0; Classical is 0-1.Marblehead 61, Revere 11At Tedesco, Marblehead captain Jordan Wright led the way for the Magicians, shooting a 36. Fellow captain Tommy Cormier and teammate Andrew Scholnick both shot a 37 in the victory. Marblehead is now 2-0, with both wins coming in conference play.St. John’s 233, Catholic Mem. 263At Quincy, senior captain Nick Maccario led the way for St. John’s with a 32. He had two birdies as well as one eagle in his round. Nick Pandelena had the second-lowest score with a 37. Greg Doyle also helped in the win with a 39. St. John’s is now 3-0 with a 1-0 conference record.
