Boys soccer: English ties Revere

Alex Mulbah scored for English in a 1-1 tie with Revere at Revere on Thursday.”I thought we played really well,” English coach Kerry King said. “The problem is, we created many opportunities we didn’t take advantage of.”Mulbah scored 20 minutes into the first half on a free kick from 20 yards out, making it 1-0, Bulldogs. That stayed the score at halftime.With nine minutes left, however, Revere got a penalty kick and converted to tie the score.Daniel Cordoba made five saves for English (1-1-1).Tech 4, Shawsheen 1At Shawsheen, Klaus Alexis scored the hat trick as the Tigers moved to 3-0 in the Commonwealth Conference (3-2 overall).Alexis scored both first-half goals, and made it 3-0, Tigers, early in the second half. Edwin Alas assisted on both first-half goals, and Richard Jones-Alas had the third assist.Francisco Franco, with an assist from Gustavo Rodriguez, scored for Tech later in the second half. Goalie Kevin DeLeon had five saves.Swampscott 3, Winthrop 1At Winthrop, Rocky Nenshati and Adnan Dzino (assisted by Tom Walsh) gave the Big Blue an early 2-0 lead in the first half, and after Winthrop scored one to make it 2-1, Kyle Taylor, who assisted on the first goal, scored one himself – with Nenshati assisting – to seal the victory.Goalie D.J. Marquis had eight saves.Swampscott is at home Monday against Danvers.Danvers 3, Marblehead 1At Danvers, the Falcons started the scoring with a goal eight minutes into the first half. That would be the only goal in the first half. Matt Frankel of Marblehead tied the game three minutes into the second half with a goal. That would be the only goal the Magicians scored. The Falcons would score two more goals in the second half, which would be the difference. Marblehead’s (1-1-1) next game is against Saugus.Peabody 2, Salem 0At Peabody, Lucas DeOliveira scored once in each half as the Tanners moved to 1-0 for sure ? and 2-0 if national federation rules are used to determine the outcome of Tuesday’s game against English, which Peabody was winning, 1-0, when the lights went out.Goalie Jason Ryan made nine saves, “and one of them was super,” said coach Stan McKeen. “I don’t know how he got to it. Just phenomenal.”McKeen also said Kyle McGlone and Luke Finkelstein played well.
