Girls Soccer: Parent, Revere defeat English

Revere’s Marissa Parent took matters into her own hands Thursday, scoring both of her goals in the second half as the Patriots blanked English, 2-0, at Manning Field.The teams battled to a first-half stalemate.Megan Forti and Shannon Kidney played well for the Bulldogs (1-3) according to coach Ed McNeill.Revere evened its record at 1-1.Swampscott 11, Winthrop 0At Swampscott, four Big Blue girls had multi-goal games. Leading the way was Jen Cleary, with two goals and two assists. Jess Gorman scored her first two goals of the season.The win brings Swampscott to 2-0.Saugus 8, Gloucester 3At Saugus, the Sachems were up only 3-2 at the half, but a big second-half performance from Alyssa Wilkie, who scored three goals, made the difference.C.C. Devine also scored twice.The Sachems are now 1-1.Danvers 4, Marblehead 0At Marblehead, the Falcons had a big performance from Brittany Russo, who scored two goals. Jess Saunders and Corey Persson had a goal each. Danvers is 2-0.Beverly 4, Classical 0At Manning Field, Beverly jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, and it was just too much for the Rams.While Classical played better in the second half, the Rams could not muster a goal.”We are still working on playing a complete game,” said Classical coach Marcy Durgin, who added that Christine Francois played a strong game.Classical is now 1-3.Peabody 9, Salem 2At Salem, Peabody’s Emily Manoogian led the way with four goals. Haley Dowd chipped in big with two goals and three assists. Victoria Digiacomo finished off the scoring for Peabody with three goals and two assists. Peabody is now 2-0.
