The Lynn Tech boys soccer team has become a force in the Commonwealth Conference/Large this season ? and just how much of a force is evident by the ease with which the Tigers defeated Greater Lowell Friday.Tech, 5-1 in the league and 5-3 overall, cruised to a 6-0 win over the Gryphons, dispelling any fears that coach Fred Gallo might have had about his team’s nine-day layoff.”I was a little nervous going into this game (because of it),” he said. “But after about 20 minutes, they settled down and played well.”It’s a huge win for us,” Gallo said. “It’s not only the conference, but the division as well, and to beat them solidly like that shows a lot of what our team’s made of.”Anthony Rodriguez scored two goals and Richard Jones-Alas had a goal and two assists to lead the Tigers.Gustavo Rodriguez opened this up at the 11-minute mark with a shot from 30 yards out, and Anthony Rodriguez got No. 2 23 minute later, with help from Jones-Alas, and Tech had a 2-0 halftime lead.Pedro Blas, with an assist from Jose Dias, scored 21 minutes into the second half, and two minutes later, Jones Alas made it 4-0.Edwin Alas made it 5-0 35 minutes into the second half, and Anthony Rodriguez came back with his second tally – with another assist from Jones-Alas, to wrap things up.”This is our best start at least in the last few years,” Gallo said.Lynnfield 2, Triton 1At Lynnfield, Connor Dario and George Levantakos scored first-half goals – both assisted by Marco Addadonzio, to give the Pioneers (5-2-1) all they needed.Coach Brent Monroe singled out Addadonzio for his effective play.GIRLS SOCCERLynnfield 3, Triton 2At Triton, this one was a nail-biter, with the Pioneers (7-1-1) turning an early 2-0 deficit into a dramatic win. After falling behind, Jamie Harris, with an assist from Jennie Schelzi) got one back before the break.Harris scored an unassisted goal at the 74th minute to tie the game, and then took a hit and had to come out of the game. While coach Mark Vermont was tending to her on the sidelines, Scout Benson took the rebound off a free kick by Lauren McCarthy (which resulted from the hit on Harris), and put it off the Triton goalie’s hands, just under the crossbar, in the 77th minute.Harris now has 76 career goals – one better than former boys soccer star Mike Kennedy, who held the previous Lynnfield record.Fenwick 1, Notre Dame (H) 1At Hingham, Kristin Verrette’s goal early in the game gave the Crusaders the lead, but Notre Dame got it back in the second half.Keeper Becca Graves made 10 says for the 1-1-4 Crusaders.
