Marblehead honors teachers

MARBLEHEAD – Lead Teachers and Teacher Mentors received their 15 minutes of fame at the last School Committee meetings."It’s my hope that we will develop a cadre of master teachers," Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac said when he introduced the Lead Teachers.Referring to the mentors, he said, "These are our strongest teachers. Without them it would take twice as long for our new teachers to adjust."Marblehead High Principal Sue Gee, Marblehead Veteran’s Middle School Principal Elizabeth Moore, Marblehead Village School Principal Michael Hanna, Bell School Principal Thomas DesJardins, Glover and Eveleth schools Principal Mary Devlin and Coffin and Gerry schools Principal Sean Satterfield introduced those teachers at each of their schools.The Lead Teachers include:Marblehead High: Patrice Clough, English; Wendy Soucy, foreign languages; Mike Giardi, math; Deb O’Reilly, science; Bob Colfer, social studies; Meredith Reardon, guidance; and Beth Delforge, art.Marblehead Veterans Middle School: Kilmer Sweazy, instructional technology; Brigitte Karns, language arts; Laurie Lovely, science; Bill Shull, social studies; and Kathryn Smith, math.Marblehead Village School: Killeen Ross, Grade 4; Janet Rumson, Grade 5; and Mary LeBlanc, Grade 6.Lead Teachers at the elementary level include Diane Babbitt, Coffin and Gerry schools; Diane Gora, Maggie Doben and Eric Vargo, Glover and Eveleth schools; Philo Wahtera and Robin Berg, who split the duties and the stipend at the Bell School.Mentors include Valerie Peterson, District; Brian Heenan, Deb O’Reilly, Harriet Page, Pascale Queval, Micheline Ryan, Kristina Sholds, Candice Sliney, Kendra Song and Steve Venezia, Marblehead High; Susan Buonopane, Ann Davis Allan, Elizabeth Dawes, Luane Little, Laurie Lovely, Bill Shull and Kathryn Smith, Marblehead Veterans Middle School.Also, Connie Cooney, Tim Kannally, Julie McMahon, Mary Miles, Lisa Murphy, Joy Purdin, Janet Rumson and Stephanie Trainor-Madigan, Marblehead Village School; Melissa Erikson, Karen Pierce and Elizabeth Rudzinski, Bell School; Diane Gora, Eandy Guthartz, Mimi Shapiro and Nancy Smith, Glover School; Faith Hall and Beth Johnson, Coffin School; Connie Black, Gerry School.
