LYNN – The North Shore Branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) is holding a candidates night on Thursday, at the Community Brotherhood of Lynn.Incumbent Mayor Edward J. Clancy Jr. and challenger Judith Flanagan Kennedy have been asked to share their views, followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience, according to organizer Darrell Murkison.The event, which begins at 7 p.m. at Community Brotherhood, 15 Coburn St., will be moderated by Murkison, a firefighter and a leader of the city’s African-American community, and David McCoy, former aide to the late Lynn mayor Patrick J. McManus.Those planning to attend should respond no later than today by calling Murkison at 781-632-2879.Clancy and Kennedy recently attended candidate nights sponsored by the Knights of Columbus and the Highlands Coalition.In addition to the Community Brotherhood event, they are scheduled for another on Friday, Oct. 30, sponsored by the Lynn Area Chamber of Commerce at the Porthole Pub and Restaurant.
