Field Hockey: Arakelian, Lynnfield edge Triton

Angela Arakelian scored with four minutes left in the game to give Lynnfield a 2-1 win over Triton Tuesday in Byfield.Both teams battled tough field conditions with Triton drawing first blood on a goal seven minutes in. The Pioneers tied the game on a goal by Kara Hutchison and that’s how things stood until Arakelian stepped up.”It was a hard-fought game to the end. Triton is a very good team and we found a way to beat them in slippery conditions,” said coach Mamie Reardon.Kathleen Twomey and Emily Hoffman also played well for Lynnfield, which improves to 12-2-2. The Pioneers play Georgetown Friday.Saugus 2, Danvers 0At Danvers, Saugus’ Katelyn DeSimone scored 24 minutes into the first half and Jackie Doherty added some insurance a few minutes later with DeSimone getting the assist. Keeper Amanda Luongo came up with two great saves to keep Danvers off the board and keep her shutout intact. Saugus is now 10-3-1.Fenwick 7, Everett 0At Fenwick, the Crusaders spread the scoring around with Lauren McHugh and Candace Ferry scoring two goals each and Liz Sears, Colleen Sears, and Jackie Felteau adding one each. Casey Landry had five saves in net. Fenwick is now 11-4-1.Beverly 5, Swampscott 1At Swampscott, Swampscott played well despite the result. The score was 2-0, Beverly, at the half. Early in the second half, Swampscott’s Julieann Marquis scored a goal, assisted by Anastasia Beaulieu, to cut the deficit in half, 2-1. Swampscott would have chances to score, but would come up empty the rest of the way. Swampscott coach Toby Channen was proud of her team.”My team played great today. We just couldn’t find the net,” Channen said.Swampscott (7-4-3) plays Danvers Thursday.Marblehead 3, Malden 0At Marblehead, Kayla Kaull, Olympia Glenn and Caroline McCarthy scored with Courtney Maher, Julia Isenberg and Paige McGonagle providing the respective assists. Kayla Casale had seven saves in the shutout. Also playing well on offense were Shelby Rosenberg and Anna Driscoll. On the defensive side were Ari Moscone and Sydney Andrews.Peabody 2, Salem 0At Peabody, junior Elisha Melville scored both goals as the Tanners improved to 9-1-4 overall, 8-1-4 Northeastern Conference.
