October 27, 2009 by Thor Jourgensen

SAUGUS – Police are trying to determine if wet road conditions were a factor in the death of a local father of three in an accident on Route 107 Sunday morning.Ronald Kusch, 54, 41 Williams Ave., struck a pole at 9:27 a.m. while driving his 1991 Mustang near the Resco incinerator on 107 South.Assistant Police Chief Lt. Leonard Campanello said investigators are trying to determine if road conditions in the wake of Saturday night’s heavy rains contributed to the crash.”The accident is currently under review by the State Police accident reconstruction team. There is no exact cause,” Campanello said.A relative of Kusch who asked not to be identified said Kusch and his wife Laurel have three teenage children. Kusch worked as a carpenter and was a Saugus High School graduate. His large family has deep town roots. Kusch’s father, Lloyd, recently died and the relative said Kusch was driving Sunday morning to a Lynn flower shop where his sister works to pick up an order. He planned, the relative said, to place the flowers on his late father’s grave.
