The English High boys soccer team finished its season on a high note with a 4-1 win over Swampscott Monday at Swampscott.Alex Mulbah was the hero in this one, netting a hat trick in a game that was scoreless at the half. Franck Wansi had the other English goal. The Bulldogs (7-9-2) also had strong play from midfielder A.J. Xhemali and defenders Chamosoke Ntambungha and Mike DeJoy. Daniel Cordoba had seven saves. English missed qualifying for the tournament by two points.”It was a tough season,” English coach Kerry King said. “Last year we made the tournament and beat Andover in the first round. I graduated a lot of people from last year. We have a good core coming back next year.”Tyngsboro 4, St. Mary’s 1At Manning Field, the Spartans (6-8-3) needed to win or tie to keep their tournament hopes alive and it didn’t happen. St. Mary’s trailed 2-0 at the half, but senior Alex Glover scored to cut the deficit to one. With 18 minutes to go and a postseason spot on the line, the Spartans played up to try to get the equalizer, but Tyngsboro put the game away with two goals.St. Mary’s got off to a rough start this year, going 1-7 in September. The tide turned in October, with the team posting a 6-1-2 record, but it wasn’t enough. St. Mary’s can spoil Cardinal Spellman’s perfect record with a win in its final game. Rob Goggin had a strong game in net despite the loss.Peabody 3, Masconomet 3At Kennedy, the Tanners (12-2-4) led 3-1 in the second half on goals by Matt Rodgers and two by Lucas DeOliveira (one on a penalty kick), but Masco rallied to salvage the tie with the equalizer coming on a penalty kick.The Tanners had strong games from defenders Corey Cronin and Mike Bernazzani. Colin Mahoney had an assist.Beverly 2, Fenwick 1At Peabody, the Crusaders (10-4-4) had an unassisted goal by Brandon Ballard to cut a 2-0 Beverly lead in half. Fransisco Anzoatequi had 11 saves.Danvers 1, Gloucester 0At Gloucester, freshman Eric Martin had the only goal with Costa Hatzilloannou collecting the assist. Senior Andrew Mikulski only had six or seven saves in net, but a couple of them were clutch. Danvers finished with a 13-0-3 record against Northeastern Conference teams and was 13-2-4 overall.
