Manning Field the place to be in November

Winter may be knocking on the door, but Manning Field isn’t ready to go into hibernation just yet.The facility will be rocking for another month or so with an assortment of high school football games, Pop Warner football playoff games and high school soccer tournament games.Although only two Lynn high school soccer teams qualified for the state tournament – the Classical boys and Tech boys – facilities manager John Kasian is expecting Manning Field to host several state tournament games up through the Eastern Mass. level and possibly beyond if it is picked as a site for a state final by the MIAA.If either Classical or Tech gets a home game to start the tournament (pairings come out on Thursday), they could be at Manning as early as Friday or into the weekend. West Lynn Pop Warner playoffs begin Wednesday night and Thursday night at Manning Field. East Lynn is on the road during the week, but the surviving teams could be playing at Manning on Sunday.Kasian said Manning will also be used for a football doubleheader (Super Bowl play-in games) on Tuesday, Dec. 1. If that’s not enough, the track is still open during the day for walkers and runners. It will close after the final football game.
