MARBLEHEAD – The School Committee and Superintendent of Schools Paul Dulac have a reinvigorated Technology Committee to advise Dulac on school computer issues this year.School Committee members Amy Drinker and Jonathan Lederman and Technology Director Kathy Comeau offered to serve on the panel and the School Committee unanimously voted to name six local residents as at-large community members of the committee two weeks ago. All six applied in writing.The new members included Karen Chemel, Kent Larson, Kris J. Larson, Jeff Flowers, Adrian Bathurst and Chinnappa Codanda.Chemel has worked in the educational technology field, including technology management for the Language Resource Center at Harvard University, where she assisted faculty members in finding new technology to enhance courses.Kent Larson, a manager at Microsoft Corp., has 27 years experience in the computer field.Kris Larson (no relation), is a consultant who evaluates new technology with regard to organizations’ capabilities.Flowers has acted as co-founder, board member and technology chief for five companies over a 30-year career. He is also president of the Marblehead Counseling Center and helped the Bell School introduce "smart board" technology to classrooms.Bathurst works at Schools and Colleges Administrative Network in Needham, developing software for East Coast colleges.Codanda is a principal computer engineer at Oracle Corp.Dulac has said he wants the committee to develop a five-year computer plan with costs attached.School Committee Chairman Dick Nohelty said he would like the committee to discuss the Technology Committee’s mission at a future meeting.
