November 10, 2009 by Robin Kaminski

LYNNFIELD – After less than one year in business, Lucille’s Fine Chicken at 215 Broadway has left the building and The Fat Cactus is planning to move in.The Board of Selectmen approved a license last week for the Mexican eatery Fat Cactus to occupy the now vacant lot.The new restaurant will be the third eatery to give it a go at the spot, which was the former location of the Naked Fish and most recently, Lucille’s Fine Chicken.Owner Mark Colangelo, who also owns the Bostonville Grille with his wife Karen, said the “authentic Mexican family-style restaurant” will include a bar area and two back rooms with three pool tables and 10 video games for children. Mariachi bands will provide occasional entertainment.A liquor license was transferred from the Naked Restaurants, Inc. to The Fat Cactus, along with separate licenses to house pool tables, video games, food service and entertainment on weekdays and on Sundays after 1 p.m.Attorney Michael McCarthy, who is representing the Colangelos, said the restaurant would generate approximately 50 jobs to service the down economy.Operating hours are tentatively set for weekdays and Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 1:30 a.m. and Sundays from 8 a.m. until 1:30 a.m. with a Mexican buffet brunch served on Sundays.Alcohol will be served until 1 a.m. every night just like at the Bostonville Grille and all servers will be TIPS certified. Bostonville Grille manager Matthew Greer will also oversee operations at The Fat Cactus.Remodeling of the inside of the building is currently underway.
