November 13, 2009 by Thor Jourgensen

REVERE – Two Boston home invaders were arrested Wednesday after a Malden Street man said they kicked down his apartment door and pistol whipped him. Police said they arrested the men after they allegedly beat the man and fled on foot.Jose Camacho, 30, and William Pantoja, 29, were expected to plead innocent to armed home invasion in Chelsea District Court. Pantoja is also charged with giving police the false name of Efrain Hernandez. He also gave police an address in Providence, R.I.The Malden Street resident told police one of the two men was wearing a mask when the pair barged into his apartment shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday and shouted, “You have money. Give me money.” He said the masked man then struck him on the head several times with the butt of a handgun.A friend who was visiting the resident ran to nearby Demaino’s Restaurant to summon help. One of the attackers jumped into a dark-colored sports utility vehicle idling on Malden Street while the other attacker ran toward Broadway.Officer Robert Impemba spotted an SUV matching the description of the getaway vehicle pull into the Auto Zone parking lot on Broadway. The driver jumped out of the vehicle and Impemba drew his firearm and ordered the man to turn around. As the driver complied with the request two other men in the SUV got out and began running down Broadway toward Squire Road. The driver fled toward Gage Avenue with Impemba in pursuit. He radioed fellow officers for help and state troopers and Revere officers searched Gage, Pitcairn Street and Squire Road for the three men. They located two of the men but not the driver. When questioned by Impemba about why he fled from police, Pantoja, according to a police report, said, “In Providence not all people with lights in cars are police.”The injured resident was taken to Whidden Memorial Hospital for treatment.
