DANVERS – Pet Express, with its flagship store on the Lynnway in Lynn, opened a second location over the weekend at the Liberty Tree Mall.Locally owned and operated, the new store will occupy 2,300 square feet of retail space at the mall, between Kim’s Hallmark and Walden Books.Pet Express will carry designer mix-breed and purebred puppies, as well as dog products, according to spokeswoman Julie Chavanne, who noted the grand opening was highlighted by gift giveaways and drawings, including a year supply of dog food.”The success of Pet Express in Lynn allowed us to open a second location and Liberty Tree Mall is the perfect retail location to helps us bring more healthy puppies to loving families on the North Shore,” said Rob Mellace, owner of Pet Express. “Our operating principle is that our puppies come first. Our second location will have the attention to detail and offer the same exceptional service as a boutique puppy store, but in a mall setting.”Pet Express is the largest independent pet superstore in New England and has been in operation for 15 years. Pet Express prides itself with having knowledgeable “pet expert” employees who are able to give advice as well as show both new and experienced pet owners the products that will best suit their pet’s needs, Mellace said.Unlike the Lynn store, which carries a wide variety of pets, the Liberty Tree Mall location will specialize in puppies and will boast state-of-the art puppy play windows, ventilation, socialization, nutrition and exceptional veterinary care. “We are deeply rooted in the community and having local business tenants alongside our national retailers helps the local economy while diversifying our retail mix,” said Matt Bourassa, general manager of Liberty Tree Mall. “Pet Express is a household name for pet owners on the North Shore and we are thrilled that the store’s success is allowing them to expand to the Liberty Tree Mall.”Pet Express will be open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. – 9 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 6 p.m. More information can be found at www.petexpressboston.com.
