November 25, 2009 by Robin Kaminski

LYNN – Two days after being shot in the head outside Soriano’s nightclub on Market Street, Lynn resident Vincent K. Gaskins, 30, has died.Essex County District Attorney Spokesman Steve O’Connell said Gaskins’ family removed him from life support mid-day Tuesday at Boston Medical Center.?The incident remains under investigation with Lynn and State police following all leads,” he said.Lt. William Sharpe said the matter is now an official homicide investigation. On Sunday at approximately 1:18 a.m., Gaskins was shot once in the head. His fiancee Ashley Auger, 23, desperately performed CPR on Gaskins before he was transported by ambulance to Salem Hospital and then air-lifted to Boston Medical Center.Auger later said while she and Gaskins were walking through the nightclub’s parking lot, Gaskins started to speak with a man with whom he had a small misunderstanding in the past. As she walked away toward her car, she said she heard gunshots and saw a blue Audi speed away from the scene. On Monday, Gaskins’ relative, Elease Davis told The Item that her family planned to remove him from life support because he was deemed brain dead.Born in Boston and raised in Lynn, Gaskins leaves behind five children, Vinny, Vanessa, King, Kareem and Saniya.According to a Sept. 3 story in The Item, Gaskins had more than 60 arraignment dates for criminal offenses listed in his court record for armed robbery, firearms possession and restraining order cases. No arrests have been made and anyone with information on the shooting is asked to contact the Lynn police at 781-593-7700.
