Lynn man nabbed on ‘Tuxedo’ warrant

LYNN – Daniel Ek, 23, of Lynn was arrested outside his 169 North Common St. residence on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. on a murder warrant by Lynn, Boston and State police and Lynn probation officers.Ek is expected to plead innocent at his arraignment today in Lynn District Court in connection to the alleged murder of Jose Alicea, 22, of Hyde Park outside a Boston bar in the early morning of Aug. 20.Ek is known to Lynn authorities. He was arrested and charged with receiving a stolen car in April of 2006 and again in November of the same year for carrying a firearm.Dubbed the “Tuxedo” murder, a total of 57 indictments were previously handed in connection to the murder of Alicea and the beatings of his three companions.Twelve men, 10 of them Lynn residents, were indicted on Nov. 11 after the Boston Police Department and Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conley’s office conducted an 11-week investigation into the case.Seven of the 12 men, six from Lynn, were charged with second-degree murder and an additional five were charged with other offenses.Those previously charged with second degree murder are Jason Benalfew, 26; Justin Cooke, 25; Jonathan Fernandez, 23; Johan Garcia, 28; Ruskyn Garcia, 25; and Michael Welch, 26, all of Lynn, and Anthony Villalobos, 21, of Revere.Also indicted on related charges are Ramona Berroa, 28; Jose Castro, 22; Jorge Encarnacion, 26; and Ramon Gonzales Llavona, 38, all of Lynn, and Miguel Flaquer, 26, of Malden.Ten of the men were wearing black tuxedos with red vests during the attack, which occurred around 2:30 a.m. outside 33 Restaurant & Lounge on Stanhope Street.The men had taken part in a friend’s funeral at St. Joseph Church on Union Street before going to the nightclub.
