Any size donation, large or small, can brighten Christmas for needy

Matthew Roy

December 9, 2009 by Matthew Roy

No matter where you look all you can see are the signs that Christmas is fully upon us.Whether it’s people trudging through lot after lot looking for the perfect Christmas tree or the seemingly endless parade of circulars advertising all kinds of sweet deals at store after store, the signs are everywhere. For most of us, these signs come as a reminder that it’s time to go out and look for that perfect gift for somebody special or to find the right toy or game to bring a twinkle to the eye of a child. In a way, most of us are still children at heart, and seeing a person’s face light up when they rip open the pretty colored paper Christmas Day still has the ability to warm hearts.Unfortunately, for some people, the ability to have that decorated tree or perfect present in pretty wrapping paper underneath it is a dream that is not able to become a reality in these challenging economic times. Thanks to the generous donations of Item readers to the Salvation Army, some families who could use some assistance will find a way to put some of those special gifts under a tree for their family. In an economy where people are struggling to make ends meet, your donations – no matter the amount, big or small – will go to a cause that helps brighten the day for families who are facing the reality of a Christmas to forget. And in the end, it’s those acts of generosity that show the Christmas spirit that lives in all of us.Click here to make a donation to Item Santa.
