Swimming: Marblehead reloads and keeps winning

The Marblehead High swim team launched its defense of the Northeastern Conference title with a 99-79 win over Swampscott Tuesday at the Lynch-van Otterloo YMCA in Marblehead.The Magicians won every event with freshman Sara Daher taking firsts in the 200 free (2:04.84) and the 100 back (1:05.70). Megan Alexander was also a double winner with firsts in the 200 IM (2:15) and the 100 free (5:31.20), as was Katherine Foley, who won the 100 fly (1:02.67) and the 500 free (5:31.20).Bill Wyman took first in the 50 free (25.99); Tyler Strogoff in diving (158.25) and Toireasa Rafferty-Millett in the 100 breast (1:15.17).Marblehead won the 200 medley relay with Katherine Kelloway, Rafferty-Millett, Foley and Alexander (2:01.97); and the 200 free relay with Tom Casar, Zach Beal, Harrison Rodts and Wyman (1:48.39).Danvers 105, Classical 76At Lynn Tech, the Rams (0-1) had wins from Katelyn Kidney in the 200 free (2:04.03) and the 100 fly (1:06.16); Peter Rondeau, the 50 free (26.00) and Tom Schumann in diving (179.75). The Rams lost quite a few swimmers to graduation, but the numbers (50) are looking good, according to coach Denise Silva.Danvers (1-0) was led by double winners Graham Beck, who took first in the 200 IM (2:05.14) and the 100 breast (1:02.45), and Ethan Collins, first in the 100 free (57.01) and 100 back (1:06.81). Marua Wilson won the 500 free (5:53.0). Danvers also won all the relays.Salem 89, English 68At Salem State College, Langston Toxey was a double winner for the Bulldogs with firsts in the 200 IM (2:19.31) and the 100 fly (1:02.80). Cody Farris took first in diving and Eddie Holland, second. Nick Newhall, Toxey, Farris and Holland combined to take second in the 200 medley relay (2:10.15).
