BOSTON – Skate over to the TD Garden and celebrate 100 Years of Magic Dec. 26-29.This production unites Disney’s unforgettable stories and enthralling characters that have entertained generations. It features the largest cast ever of lovable Disney stars on ice – Pinocchio, Jiminy Cricket, Stitch, Buzz Lightyear, Woody, Nemo and of course Mickey Mouse!Acton native Tanya Bakerman, 24, who is one of the ensemble skaters in this year’s production, has been on the road for more than a year with the show and wouldn’t have it any other way.”I’ve been skating my whole life,” she said. “I always knew this was something I wanted to do. The show is a lot of fun to do. I love being part of something that can inspire others, help heal, and restore hope to children and families.”As for life on the road, Bakerman had this tip to offer.”Make sure you leave enough gas in your tank,” she said.Bakerman said one of her favorites segments in the show is from “The Lion King.””It’s just so much fun to skate in and watch,” she said. “It’s wonderful show and great entertainment for the whole family. Everyone should come see it.”Produced by Feld Entertainment, Disney On Ice celebrates 100 Years of Magic is a lavish production that is sure to enchant the audience with its elaborate innovative sets that serve not only as a backdrop for the show but also a vehicle to Disney’s most memorable, magical scenes. The creative imagination behind the transformation from ice rink to ice spectacular is designer David Potts, whose work has been seen in numerous Broadway productions and feature films. Potts chose the castle as the one image that would “transcend the years and become the show’s unifying theme.” Standing 38 feet at its highest point and weighing in excess of 20,000 pounds, the castle is an impressive structure of detail and light that is a magnificent centerpiece for the show. From start to finish, Potts has designed breathtaking floats and more than 100 scenic elements. Monstro, the infamous whale from Pinocchio, also makes an appearance. The 36-foot-long creature is 12 feet wide and has a series of 14 custom-made arches that allow it to slither across the ice floor. In the “it’s a small world” segment, a parade of motorized floats represent Asia, Europe, Russia and Central America with vibrant colors and music from many diverse cities and countries ranging from India to Ireland. The floats, equipped with hydraulics, are electronically controlled and adorned with more than 33 intricately detailed moving dolls. The finale of the first act will leave audiences breathless, with a light parade representing countries the world over.In the second act, the chill of a Siberian winter is felt as snow falls during Mulan’s battle with the Huns in a dramatic, elaborately choreographed scene. The African Pride Lands are imaginatively recreated as everyone’s favorite sidekicks, Timon and Pumbaa, delight audiences with their wacky antics and unique sense of adventure. With its lovable Disney characters, world class skaters and breath taking special effects- this show is sure to be a hit with all ages.If You Go?Tickets are $22 to $82 and are available online atwww.TD Garden.com,www.ticketmaster.com or by calling800-745-3000.
