For the second straight night, the Lynn Jets found themselves trailing after the first period in the Viking Holiday Classic. And for a second straight game, the Jets rebounded to take the tournament’s title.Ryan Coppinger scored twice, including the game-winner late in the second period, as the Jets overcame a 2-1 deficit to knock off tourney host Triton, 4-2, at Whiston-Bragdon Arena in Byfield.”Coming from behind two days in a row says a lot about these kids,” Lynn coach Joe Conlon said. “They played with a lot of character and we should be proud of ourself. That’s the mark of a good team.”Unlike their semifinal win over Fenwick on Monday, the Jets (5-1-0) actually scored first as Coppinger lit the lamp off a Jack Carter assist at 3:05. But the Vikings battled back and took the lead into the first intermission.John Finnigan got Lynn back even early in the second with an unassisted goal. Then late in the period, Coppinger put the Jets ahead for good when he scored off a Ryan Powers assist.Bucky Surette’s early third-period goal gave Lynn some insurance.Concord-Carlisle 4, Peabody 1At the Edge Sports Center in Bedford, the Tanners (3-1-0) had no answer for Concord’s top unit of Rob Snook, Mike Van Siclen and Griffin Fadden as that trio accounted for all four Patriot goals.”That first line of theirs was tough to stop,” Peabody coach Mark Leonard said.Neither team scored in the first period before Snook gave C-C a 1-0 lead with a shorthanded goal 34 seconds into the middle frame. Matt Rodgers answered with a shorthanded marker for Peabody at 7:20, assisted by Andrew Bucci, to knot the game at 1-1.Snook, however, scored a power play goal late in the second to give C-C the lead after two. Van Siclen made it 3-1 with 4:58 left before Snook completed his hat trick 33 seconds later.Beverly 3, North Quincy 1At Talbot Rink in Gloucester, the Panthers (2-3-0) halted a three-game losing streak in the consolation game of the Cape Ann Savings Bank Classic.Mitch Hamor, Tyler Albano and Jack Liacos each had a goal while Ryan Gilligan dished out a pair of assists. Albano and Liacos also had helpers in the win.Fenwick 2, Salem 1At Byfield, Mike Cipriani and Ryan Adamson scored the Crusaders’ (3-3) two second-period goals in the Viking Holiday Tournament. Adam Clay picked up an assist and had a very strong performance on the power play. Brett Kidik had an assist and had a great game in the face-off circle. Brad Rocheville turned away 22 shots.Zack Holt scored the Witches’ lone goal.Marblehead 2, Belchertown 1At Mullins Center, Tony Cuzner turned away 21 shots for the Magicians (4-0). However, none were as big as the sensational save he made with 35 seconds left to preserve the win. Ryan Dempsey and Tyler Gelineau scored the Marblehead goals.The Magicians were without team captain (and defenseman) Anders Gunderson, but got strong play out of Alex Whitmore, Jay King, Jake Kulevich and freshman Ian Maag.Swampscott 4, Newton South 3At Porazzo Rink in East Boston, the Big Blue (3-1) advanced to the finals of the East Boston Deep Freeze Tournament thanks to a four-goal second period.Gino Cresta, Matt Videtta, Chris Carman and Anthony DiPietro took care of the goal-scoring for the Big Blue, who play St. Clement tonight (8) in the finals.
