December 31, 2009 by Britt Braudo

LYNN – Two Lynn teens were arraigned Wednesday after they allegedly robbed an Everett man at knifepoint who had met the teens on Tuesday to sell them a cell phone he had been advertising on Craigslist.Aguiles Bernabe-DeLeon, 18, of 255 Boston St., and Kelby Reynoso, 18, of 606 Chestnut St., were both charged with armed robbery and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. The 18-year-old victim said he had come to Lynn with his girlfriend to sell a T-Mobile cell phone and he had been in contact with Bernabe-DeLeon via text message and phone calls. The victim met him on Albany Street, where he was led to believe Bernabe-DeLeon’s mother lived.According to the police report, the victim followed Bernabe-DeLeon to the rear of 9 Albany St. under the assumption that Bernabe-DeLeon’s mother would give him the money to pay for the phone. Once he was on the rear porch, three other males in dark jackets appeared in the driveway with knives and Bernabe-DeLeon allegedly grabbed the victim from behind and put a knife to his throat. Two of the suspects allegedly pulled out semi-automatic handguns before the victim successfully distracted them by pretending there was someone coming up toward the suspects. The victim broke free after he was beat and kicked several times and ran to the car where his girlfriend was waiting. The suspects fled down Arlington Street and Bernabe-DeLeon was found and identified at the corner of Endicott and Franklin streets and Reynoso was apprehended on Albany Terrace. The other two suspects involved have not been found.
