The combined Winthrop/English gymnastics team defeated Marblehead, 136.275-126.8, Thursday at the Marblehead YMCA.Kayla Knight, one of three Lynn girls on the team, took first in all-around. She finished first on the bars, in vaulting and in floor exercises and took third on the balance beam. Danica Dell’Anno of Winthrop also had a good night, taking second in floor exercises and in vaulting and third on the bars and the beam. Samantha Amico took fourth on the beam and in floor exercises. The team is now 2-1 with Beverly up next.GIRLS HOCKEYSt. Mary’s 10, Williams 2At Brockton High School, Sabrina Ianetti had a hat trick and an assist to help the Spartans up their record to 7-0. Courtney White had two goals and an assist and Erin McAndrews, Marissa Maccario, Angela Dandreo, Mikaela Donovan and Gabby Crugnale added one each. Courtney Winters collected four assists. Liz Giacchino (2 saves) was in net for the win.The Spartans are off until next Wednesday when they play Arlington Catholic.SWIMMINGDanvers 101, Swampscott 83At the Marblehead JCC, Hannah Schultz was a double winner for the Big Blue (2-2) with firsts in the 500 free (5:48) and the 200 free (2:11.4). Her 500 free time qualified her for the states. Senior Matt Barbuzzi won the 100 free (59.8) and took second in the 50 free (25.3). Swampscott also won the 400 free relay with Schultz, Elizabeth Drummond, Cym Rogers and Hannah McGovern (4:17.8).Danvers (3-1) had strong performances from double winners Graham Beck, who took first in the 200 IM (2:07.69) and in the 100 breast (104.55), and Ethan Collins, first in 50 free (25.22) and the 100 back (1:07.03). Colin Delaney won diving (155.90 points) and Julianne Hopkins was first in the 100 fly (1:11.76). The Falcons also won the medley relay and the free relay and had strong second-place efforts by Tori Ganley and Maura Wilson in the 100 fly and 100 breast. Both came from behind to take second.Marblehead 101, Classical 77At Lynn Tech, the Magicians (5-1, 4-0 Northeastern Conference) keep on rolling. Sara Daher, Toireasa Rafferty-Millett, Katherine Foley and Megan Alexander combined to win the 200 medley relay (2:ll.94). Rafferty-Millett also won the 100 fly, Alexander the 200 free (2:00.55) and Foley the 200 IM (2:18.15). Tom Cason won the 50 free and joined Katerine Kelloway, Harrison Rodts and Austin Harshbarger on the winning 200 free relay team (1:46.81). Marblehead went unofficial the rest of the way.Classical’s Tom Schumann won diving with 175.30 points. He was coming off a record-setting performance earlier in the week. He scored 195.85 points to break the Classical High boys record set by Mukunda Manoogian in 2005. Katelyn Kidney finished first in the 500 free (5:30.13). The Rams are 1-3.Beverly 92, English 74At the Beverly YMCA, the Bulldogs (0-3) had good performances by double winners Eddie Holland, first in the 50 free (26.95) and in diving (128.85 points), and Langston Toxey, who won the 200 IM (2:21.30) and 100 free (56.23). The 200 medley relay team of Holland, Peter Rodriguez, Toxey and Martin Merritt finished second.Salem 97, Peabody 75At Salem State, the Tanners (1-2) picked up their lone win from Brittani Atkinson in the 100 back (1:11.21), but there was plenty of reason for optimism. Julie Shea, who was the team’s top point-getter last season, returned to action after being out for three weeks with an injury. Peabody is at Danvers next week.BOYS TRACKMarblehead 70, Saugus 16At Marblehead, the Magicians (3-1-0) swept three events – the 600, mile and 2-mile – and had a double winner. Nolan Raimo won the high jump (5-2) and the 55-meter hurdles (8.6). Marblehead also had wins from Junior Okereke, 55 meters (6.8); Nikolai Etholm, 300 (40.5); Will Herlihy, 600 (1:36.1); Chris Neumann, 1,000 (3:03.9); Henry Pratt, mile (4:53.6) and Tucker Reece, 2-mile (10:37.6).
