Reward offered for info on Revere bomb hoax

REVERE – Police and state arson investigators are offering a $1,000 to $5,000 reward for information on last Thursday’s bomb scare at Revere Convenience Mart.The Massachusetts State Police Arson Unit is posting the reward. Anyone with information on the incident can contact Trooper Sheryl O’Donnell at 1-800-682-9229. The reward amount will be based on the value of the information provided leading to an arrest and prosecution in this case.Revere police and firefighters evacuated about a dozen people from around Broadway Mart, 632 Broadway, last Thursday evening and closed down a section of Broadway and four adjoining streets after a store clerk on the instructions of an anonymous caller to the store found a bottle wrapped with duct tape inside a purse in the parking lot behind the store.The caller told the clerk the purse contained a bomb and told the clerk to deliver money at a location away from the store. Police subsequently determined the bottle and tape were “a hoax device.”Police summoned State Police bomb squad experts who spent several hours examining the device before hitting it with a high-powered water blast.
