Playing what coach Mark Lee termed his team’s “best game of the year,” St. Mary’s got a four-point night from Mike Restuccia and a pair of goals from Derek Stella to knock off 8-1 Archbishop Williams, 4-1, at CDL Rink in Raynham.”This is the type of game that we know as coaches this team is capable of,” Lee said. “It was our best game of the year and they showed that we can play with anybody.”Restuccia wasn’t expected to be in the lineup for the Spartans on Wednesday as he was attending a wake for a family member who passed away a couple days previous.”I didn’t expect him to play,” Lee said. “But he called earlier in the day and said that he wanted to try and play. And I was so impressed with that. He played inspired hockey.”Restuccia broke a scoreless tie just past the midpoint of the second period when he scored, assisted by Brendan Mageary and Casey Goll. Two minutes later, Tommy Braswell made it 2-0, assisted by Stella and Restuccia. The Bishops cut the lead in half early in the third but Stella answered at 4:30 and scored again with 9:52 left. Both goals were assisted by Restuccia and Braswell.Donald Hesse made 22 saves.”It was a great effort by the entire team,” Lee said.Winthrop 4, Lynn 2At Larsen Arena in Winthrop, the Vikings (7-1-1) jumped out to a 3-0 lead and the Jets (8-3-0) never could recover.”It was a good win for us,” Winthrop coach Dale Dunbar said. The game was scoreless until midway through the first when Alex Hamilton, Joe Casey and Chris LeBlanc scored in a 2:23 stretch to send Winthrop in front.Demetrius Polk cut the lead to 3-1 when he scored for Lynn late in the first. Jake Kulevich scored Marblehead’s first goal on the power play halfway through the third period. A few minutes later Hunter Graves made a very nice personal effort to set up Austin Haley’s game-tying goal.”It was great that our kids didn’t give up,” Magicians coach Bob Jackson said. “They just kept working hard. It was a nice point to earn.”Marblehead got a nice boost to the lineup as senior captain Ben Koopman returned.
