Roundup: Prep boys track wins showdown with BC High

In a battle of undefeated teams, the St. John’s boys track team squeaked by BC High 49-46 at the Reggie Lewis Center on Tuesday.St. John’s coach Ray Carey was very happy with his team.”I have coached for 34 years, and I have never seen a meet that was as dramatic as this one. Every event seem to have a great finish,” Carey said.St. John’s took first place in six events: Pat Driscoll, 55 meter hurdles (8.30); Chris Crosby, 300 meters (36.48); Mike Galasso, 600 meters (1:25.86); Chris Oesterlin, 1,000 meters (2:41.50); John Flanagan, mile (4:39.67); and Ben Halpin, two-mile (10:01.26). St. John’s remains undefeated at 5-0.Fenwick 39, Williams 28At the Reggie Lewis Center, Fenwick’s Angelo Maida led the way. Maida took first in the mile (4:54). Maida also led the 4×4 relay team with Joe Caruso, Zack Terenzoni, and Bob Farrell (3:59). Farrell also took first in the 600 meters (1:36). Eamon Barrett placed first in the shot put (40-2). Fenwick is 4-1.GIRLS TRACKFenwick 54, Williams 5At the Reggie Lewis Center, Fenwick’s Brittany Dolan was a double winner in the 50 meter high hurdles (9.73) and 50 meters (8.13). Faye Haley took first in the 300 meters (46.3). Lan-anh Nguyen took the high jump (4-5). Fenwick is 5-0.SWIMMINGSalem 101, Classical 80At Tech, Classical’s Katelyn Kidney was a double winner in the 50 free (26.89) and 100 backstroke (1:06.26). Tom Schumann was first in diving (182.70). Classical is 2-4.Beverly 95, Swampscott 91At Marblehead, the Magicians took first in three events. T.J. Nestor took first in diving, Mischa Kuyzov took first in the 200 IM, and Cymantha Rogers took first in the 500 free. Marblehead is 3-4.Peabody 87, Revere 80At Garfield Middle School in Revere, Peabody had three double winners in Brittani Atkinson, Steve Demeule, and Julie Shea. Atkinson took the 200 free (2:14.91) and 500 free (6:00.59). Demeule took the 200 IM (2:44.21) and 100 backstroke (1:19.46). Shea took the 50 free (27.94) and 100 free (59.87). Peabody is 3-4.GIRLS HOCKEYMarblehead 5, Medway 1At the Veterans Arena in Franklin, Marblehead’s Lexie Laing led the way, recording a hat trick. Laing scored one goal in each period. Kelsey Maguire and Ally Healy chipped in with a goal each. Keelin Fallon had a strong performance, recording two assists. Goalie Molly Depew had 11 saves. Marblehead is 6-4-4.
